TRALA (Truck Renting & Leasing Assocation)Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

As your high school seniors get ready to head back to School, it’s not too early to be thinking about paying for college this time next year.  One strategy is for your son or daughter to apply for a TRALA Scholarship that could amount to $20,000 over four years.  Applicants must be dependent children (high school seniors only) of full-time employees of TRALA member companies. Employees must have been working full-time for the company a minimum of one year as of the application deadline.  Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four year college or university. The application deadline is January 15, 2009.

UTA (Used Truck Association) Scholarship Information

We are pleased to award this scholarship on behalf of Jerry Nerman and the membership of UTA.

For 2008 the UTA is proud be able to offer four $5000 scholarships to UTA members in good standing, or someone sponsored by a UTA member in good standing, to assist in furthering her/ his education at an accredited degree- granting institution. This is a one-time award, recipients are not eligible to re-apply.

Qualification Criteria Include: Community Activities, Work Accomplishments, Academic Success, References, School Activities.

The deadline for applying for the 2008 award is September 1st, 2008. The recipient will be determined by October 15th, 2008. The winner will be announced in the UTA Industry Watch and at the UTA National Convention November 9-12 2008.

Conditions of Scholarship: The award winner must be a full time student and pursuing a degree in an accredited program. The scholarship will be awarded directly to the academic institution and a copy of the students’ transcript may be requested once the school year begins. The scholarship is a one-time award.

Texas Motor Transportation Association

Foundation Scholarship for Member Company Employees or Their Dependent Children

Drivers, dock workers, mechanics, office personnel - they are among the thousands of people each day who contribute to a strong, efficient motor transportation industry in Texas.

Many of these workers are or have dependents who are pursuing studies toward a higher education. The Texas Motor Transportation Foundation would like to help some of these students in their efforts by providing scholarships to Texas Motor Transportation Association (TMTA) company member employees or their dependents.

Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of their academic achievement, community involvement and financial need. The Foundation will provide financial assistance for college and trade school students. Scholarships may be used to meet such expenses as tuition, books, and housing.

The TMTA Foundation is a non-profit educational, public relations, research and community service organization created by the Texas Motor Transportation Association to promote the truck and bus industry to the people of Texas. TMTA represents more than 1,200 truck lines and allied industries operating in Texas.

Eligibility: Applicants must be high school graduates or seniors, and they must be an employee or a dependent of someone employed by a company with membership in the Texas Motor Transportation Association.

Application: A student seeking a scholarship should complete the application form located at http://www.tmta.com/Foundation/FoundationScholarsh09BD/index.asp and send it to the TMTA Foundation along with a recent black and white photograph, a certified copy of your transcript, one to three letters of recommendation and an accompanying letter of intent. This letter should include information on current and planned studies, career goals, interests, and the reason for applying for the scholarship.

Selection: Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Board of Trustees of the Texas Motor Transportation Foundation and the scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient's school. The Board of Trustees comprise 15 members, at least three of whom are public trustees outside the motor transportation industry.

Deadline for applying: Applications must be received by close of business on Monday, June 16, 2008 for scholarships to be awarded for the 2008-2009 Academic Year.
